Newport Gwent Dragons claimed the final place in the 2009/10 Heineken Cup tournament when they beat Rugby Calvisano in the 24th Place Play-Off match at Centro Sportivo San Michele tonight (Friday, 29 May).

The Welsh region outscored the Italian club 6-2 in tries to book their place in European club rugby's 15th season of elite competition. Rugby Calvisano will play in the 2009/10 European Challenge Cup.

RUGBY CALVISANO: Tries - G Garcie, V Bernabo; Cons - G Fraser, G Raineri; Pen - G Fraser.

NEWPORT GWENT DRAGONS: Tries - A Black 2, R Fussell, L Charteris, A Smith, R Sidey; Cons - J Arlidge 6

Nell’indifferenza generale (né il sito Lire, né quello FIR ne parlano) il Calvisano è stato umiliato 17-42 dalla peggior squadra Celtica, i Gwent Dragons che di fronte ad un Calvisano inguardabile sembravano gli All Blacks.
 
Questa partitella, che valeva un posto in Heineken Cup, scivola via nell’indifferenza generale.
